The basics of this position:

STLCC is currently hiring for two Theatre Managers; one at the Forest Park campus and one at the Meramec campus. This position oversees the daily operation of campus theatre facility, including technical, artistic, and personnel supervision. Designs, constructs, mounts and manages major theatre productions. Plans and schedules theatre venue events, technical support for productions, and maintenance of theatre systems and facility. Responsible for administration of theatre budget and building safety.

What you'll do:

  • • Plans and schedules all theatre events and maintains calendar through college EMS system.
    • Performs or assigns duties as house manager as the need arises.
    • Serves as initial contact and liaison for all internal and outside users of the theatre facility.
    • Responsible for purchase of required equipment and services.
    • Administers established policies, procedures and protocol pertinent to the theatre.
    • Participates in the collaboration of the design and technical aspects of a theatre production.
    • Hires part-time staff and students; schedules and trains in safe operation of stage production equipment, including construction and shop tools, lighting and audio equipment, design software, and projection and printing equipment.
    • Responsible for administration of personnel, program and facility budgets.
    • Performs other job-related duties pertaining to theatre production and operation.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

• The necessary skills and abilities would normally be acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of experience as a theatre manager or technical director in a higher educational setting.

• Physical Requirements:
Theater work can sometimes be physically demanding with untraditional work hours comprised of evenings and weekend hours.
May occasionally be required to lift equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
Working Condition:
May be required to work at heights up to 40 feet, using personnel lifts, scaffolding, grids or catwalks.
Working in a theatre scene shop sometimes requires working with a variety of different supplies, products, and chemicals.
