The basics of this position:

Lead first-time students through a skills-based college orientation that prepares students for the rigors of college study and helps to instill good habits for the classroom that transfer to life skills.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare first-time students for a strong college learning foundation by teaching skills such as Time Management, Decision-Making Process, Problem Solving, and other skills needed for college success.

    Instructors are responsible for instruction, grading, record-keeping, and compliance with legal and institutional obligations. Instructors should expect to meet all deadlines and to regularly use standards software, including the Microsoft Office suites, as appropriate. Instructors must conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for the diversity of people, styles, and views.

    In addition to providing excellent instruction, all faculty members are expected to adhere to the following specific requirements:
    *Maintain appropriate number of office hours that are convenient for your students.
    *Provide meaningful, timely feedback to students' work and questions.
    *Meet all department and college deadlines.
    *Maintain accurate records of student attendance and report same as required.
    *Report mid-term and final grades on Banner Web.
    *Attend scheduled adjunct faculty meetings and training sessions.
    *Complete policy-related tutorials with successful result.
    *Check and respond to messages and request from students and administration within 24 hours after receipt.
    *Comply with all provisions of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Education, experience, and other requirements:

Master's Degree and 18 credit hours in relevant subject matter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experiences in teaching first-generation and other freshmen students in a higher education environment.
