The basics of this position:

Performs duties necessary to develop, implement and supervise a comprehensive college orientation and transition program, including the coordination of First Year Experience and intervention efforts, as well as assist the manager with related activities.

What you'll do:

  • · Coordinates transition activities, orientation programs, and intervention initiatives. · Coordinates orientation and First Year Experience efforts with all departments, centers and divisions; serves on campus committees and task forces as a campus life representative. · Attends presentations and seminars and monitors developments in higher education to stay abreast of issues and concerns affecting student retention, orientation, First Year Experience; keeps informed regarding effective student transition tracking methods used at other institutions. · Recruits, trains and supervises campus faculty, staff and student volunteers involved in mentoring students, conducting classroom presentations, and assisting with orientation and First Year Experience events. · Develops and administers the orientation and First Year Experience programming budget; prepares and presents status reports on a periodic basis or as directed; advises the manager of budgetary issues, needs and problems; initiates corrective action to resolve problems as authorized. · Serves on District committees and participates in programs, events and initiatives which are relevant to student orientation and First Year Experience; servers as a District representative at outside functions and provides information pertaining to orientation and First Year Experience. · Communicates the College's mission and progress regarding student orientation and First Year Experience transition initiatives to campus community, Leadership Team and Board of Trustees. · Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Education Administration or related field and over three (3) years relevant full-time experience in training, teaching, curriculum development, educational evaluations, special event planning, project/program coordination, and recruiting and training volunteers, preferably in a higher education environment.
