The basics of this position:
The Coordinator, Advanced Manufacturing Center Laboratory, supports the daily operations and instructional quality of the academic programs offered within the Advanced Manufacturing Center. This position is responsible for ensuring alignment with industry standards and safety protocols by providing training and written materials; assisting faculty in advanced manufacturing labs before, during, and after lab sessions; submitting orders for supplies, materials, and equipment needed within the labs; repairing or researching repair needs for equipment; supporting events, tours, or community groups as needed; providing information needed for new equipment; completing inventory requirements; and being responsible for hazardous waste. The role involves close coordination with the Engineering Technology academic department, facilities team, Workforce Solution Group, and safety department.
What you'll do:
- • Serve as the lab coordinator for welding, HVAC, electrical, manufacturing, robotic, 3d print, and precision machining labs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety training curriculum in line with organizational goals, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure instructional materials, tools, and training equipment are up to date, functional, and available for course delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to identify lab needs, including new equipment.
• Maintain records of safety trainings provided, including trainee progress, certifications, and materials provided.
• Assist faculty in advanced manufacturing labs before, during, and after lab sessions.
• Submit orders for supplies, materials, and equipment needed within the labs.
• Repair, prepare, or research repair needs for equipment.
• Support events, tours, outreach, and community groups hosted in the Advanced Manufacturing Center and Drone Net as needed.
• Provide information needed for the purchase of new equipment.
• Complete required inventory and compliance reports.
• Serve as the building’s person responsible for hazardous waste.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and organizational policies within the learning environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
• Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Machining Technology, Automation Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in mechanical systems, automation systems, industrial maintenance, or a related technical trade. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
• OSHA 30-Hour or equivalent safety training certification.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally to off-site training locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a supervisory or lead role is preferred.
• Experience developing and delivering safety protocols is preferred.
• Relevant mechanical or trade certifications (e.g., N.I.M.S., OSHA, ISO) is preferred.
