The basics of this position:
Serves as one of the first points of contact for Human Resources/Payroll Department personnel as Banner ERP functional support. Under general direction of the HRIS Banner Lead is responsible to design, develop and implement processes and changes to components of Banner for alignment with current College policies and maintains documentation of IT created custom code for Human Resources/Payroll. Assignments may include, but are not limited to, consulting with HRIS Banner Lead and Human Resource/Payroll business unit leaders to analyze user requests, evaluate software, test and implement mandated legal, procedural and policy changes, assess technologies that integrate with information systems, create and develop SQL code, troubleshoot Enterprise and desktop level software and develop Human Resource/Payroll Department reports.
What you'll do:
- Maintain regular communication with Human Resource/Payroll personnel for the proactive identification of areas for improvement/enhancement, assessment of the status of current projects, and monitoring the effectiveness of changes implemented.
- Research and advise Human Resource/Payroll personnel of possible solutions within the existing operating environment and those requiring added resources as broad options are requested and funded.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, detect, identify, document and correct technical problems and deficiencies.
- Design, plan, and implement processes that assure data integrity and accuracy. Develop and evaluate test plans for new system implementations and upgrades in collaboration with HRIS Banner Lead and Information Technology Banner team to include both short and long-term timelines.
- Review, evaluate, and test internally developed, and vendor supplied application system upgrades and patches assuring functionality that meets user needs. Maintain documentation as a permanent record maximizing maintainability of systems.
- Investigate system problems using functional and technical expertise. Document problems, determine source, and actions taken to resolve.
- Create and maintain system configuration and functionality documentation as a permanent record to maximize system maintainability.
- Responsible for the development of reports, scripts, and queries for the retrieval and presentation of data.
- Author Business Intelligence reports, using specialized systems expertise and programs to generate special reports and summaries.
- Analyze data and data requirements regarding reporting solutions; ensure data quality and match report results back to core systems transaction results.
- Maintain documentation of reporting solutions, data mapping, data dictionary and other standards. Coordinate end user review and acceptance of developed reports.
- Resolve production report issues and respond quickly to priority data and report requests.
- Work with other business analytic team members, along with the HRIS Lead, to maintain reporting standards and protocols.
- Contribute to and participate in district-wide committees and user groups.
- Participate in learning opportunities, conferences, and seminars to improve functional and technical skills.
- Manage tickets that are submitted via the help desk ticketing system as it pertains to user access etc.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or closely related discipline or equivalent work experience and education/training providing similar knowledge and skills is necessary.
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible relevant experience. Certification in systems and applications to be supported may be considered an equivalency for experience requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Ellucian ERP system is preferred.
• Experience with ERP system financial modules is preferred.
• Experience with SQL coding, and knowledge of programming/operating languages(s) is preferred.
• Experience with Business Intelligence report writing tools (i.e. Crystal Reports, Hyperion, Cognos, Tableau, ODS). Experience with data analysis is preferred.
