The basics of this position:
Serves as the college’s chief academic officer and is responsible for overall planning, development, coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the college’s academic programs and services. Comprehensive duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advancing student success, fostering collegiality and cooperation to advance learning, implementing the college’s strategic mission and vision, and providing leadership for district-wide coordination and oversight of academic affairs and related services. Serves as a member of the college’s Leadership Team. In the absence of the Chancellor, serves as the CEO of the College unless otherwise designated by the Chancellor.
What you'll do:
- Serves as the external liaison for the college to local, state, and national organizations and agencies on academic affairs issues. Oversees compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Develops, maintains, and interprets academic standards and policies of the college to students, faculty, administrators, and the general public.
- Participates with Leadership Team members in the development and accomplishment of district goals and objectives, the college’s strategic plan, and key performance measures.
- Collaborates with Vice Chancellors, Presidents, and Deans to provide leadership and district-wide coordination of academic programming, alignment of credit and non-credit instruction, academic support services, educational and technology resources to support instruction and academic partnerships.
- Collaborates with the Academic Affairs Leadership Team members to address issues of program viability and sustainability, efficiency of resources to support educational programs, and decision making related to the operation and management of academic programs and services.
- Leads the curriculum development and approval processes, program review and evaluation, and the college’s technology resources and infrastructure that support curriculum processes.
- Oversees district-wide coordination of online education and the college’s technology resources and infrastructure that support online education. Supports district-wide efforts to develop, implement, maintain, and improve online education.
- Directs the coordination of the college’s institutional and instructional resources, including the management and maintenance of all official college documents in archival files. Supports districtwide coordination of library and the selection, acquisition, organization, and management of collections in all formats that ensure availability of resources for teaching and learning to support the College’s full range of instructional programs and activities.
- Leads the college’s articulation policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and maintains official documentation for all articulation agreements.
- Provides executive leadership for the college’s institutional research and planning.
- Leads the coordination of institutional accountability with state and federal agencies and the Higher Learning Commission.
- Oversees production of reports, including enrollment, IPEDS, performance metrics, and other institutional reports. Ensures institutional access to valid and reliable data to support decision making and the development and implementation of strategic plans for the institution.
- Directs the college’s professional development of faculty and academic staff.
- Supports district-wide coordination of study abroad and international exchange programs for students and faculty.
- Establishes and monitors budgets for academic delivery and academic support at the district level in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and the Leadership Team.
- Provides policy development and evaluation in the areas related to faculty, curriculum, and degree and certificate requirements.
- Convenes the Academic Affairs Leadership Team for the district.
- Collaborates with the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs to lead in the implementation of new initiatives and strategies that facilitate student success.
- Is responsible for the submission of the Academic Calendar.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
- Seven (7) years of full-time experience in higher education, preferably a community college, including five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
- Higher education teaching experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate from an accredited institution preferred.
