The basics of this position:
Teach a wide range of horticulture courses to a diverse group of students utilizing face-to-face teaching modalities including teaching in the outdoor Garden Classroom.
What you'll do:
- Formal course contact teaching of 15 credit hours of horticulture courses (courses include but are not limited to Soils, Plant Identification, Landscape Management, Plant Propagation, Turf Management, Landscape Design, Integrated Pest Management, Native Landscaping Practices, Urban Tree Management) face to face varying among day and evening. Faculty are also required to hold a minimum of 10 office hours per week for meeting with students.
Preparation and planning for instructing assigned classes in accordance with course objectives.
Preparing and correcting examinations and other student work assignments.
Participation in departmental development, evaluation and revision of course objectives and outlines, instructional strategies, and systems of evaluation of student learning.
Participation on other departmental, divisional, campus and college-wide committees.
Attendance at faculty meetings, institutional ceremonies, program meetings or program events, and advisory committee meetings.
Participation in community activities.
The College reserves the right to assign other normal professional responsibilities as may be appropriate.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or other related field.
Three years of horticulture field experience.
Master's degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or other related field.
Three years of relevant teaching experience at the college level.
Three years of horticulture field experience.
