The basics of this position:

***This position is for FALL 2023-2024***
The Human Services Division at St. Louis Community College is currently in search of an adjunct faculty to teach courses in Human Services. This position is part-time and non-tenure. The successful candidate will be responsible to teach up to three courses per semester or term in the academic year. Applicants for this position must have at least a master’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a closely related field, two years of teaching experience, and computer skills. A recent graduate in the fields listed, degree level with some teaching experience, is also encouraged to apply. Online teaching experience and experience teaching at a community college are preferred, but not required.

What you'll do:

  • Individual will teach all courses in the human services curriculum.
    Individual will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, maintaining accurate records of students evaluating and grading students’ class work, and assignments. Individual will participate in all Human Services Instructional Team meetings, required trainings, has ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and racial/ethnic backgrounds as well as diverse abilities/disabilities and sexual preference.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

Requires a master’s degree in social work (MSW) or related discipline. Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Minimum of 5 years’ experience post graduate degree in social work/human services field, ability to work with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and racial/ethnic backgrounds as well as diverse abilities/disabilities and sexual preference.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, college-level teaching experience work experience in social work or human services field; work-related experience with professional and community agencies and organizations; experience teaching online and strong technology. The ability to work with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and racial/ethnic backgrounds as well as diverse abilities/disabilities and sexual preference.
