The basics of this position:

Uses knowledge of learning theory, best practices in teaching, and instructional technologies to design effective learning experiences for all types of course and training delivery modalities. Serves as a consultant for creating assessment strategies, developing content that is universally accessible for all learners, and implementing technologies that enhance learning activities. Develops processes based on researched best practices for course development and design and serves as the project manager for collaborative course developments across the district.
Serves as a first point of contact for all faculty members on instructional technology use and questions. Tests new and emerging instructional technologies and participates in train-the-trainer sessions to become expertly skilled in technologies used by the department. Provides in-person and virtual training and support to faculty and students across the district using instructional technologies and develops print, graphic, and multimedia training materials for 24/7 access.
Serves as the LEAD Learning Experience Consultant (LEC) for the department by assisting the Executive Director in facilitating workflows, managing processes for LEC recruitment, training and mentoring, and serving as the first point of contact for all LEC questions in regard to policies and procedures.
The LEAD Learning Experience Consultant should be self-motivated, able to prioritize work, create reports and track analytical data. Many times, this position works independently to accomplish work tasks and goals set by the Executive Director of Online Education. In addition to course design and consultation, work tasks include managing standard operating procedures and training opportunities for LECs, as well as creating/maintaining onboarding processes and mentoring/evaluating new LECS within the department.

What you'll do:

  • Serves as the project manager for collaborative course developments, managing the process to ensure developments adhere to set timelines and procedures.
    Serves as the course design expert for collaborative course developments and as the expert resource/mentor for individual course developments across the district.
    Research best practices to develop and maintain a rigorous and high-quality course development process used for collaborative and individual course developments across the district and provides faculty training on its use.
    Collaboratively researches, identifies, and recommends policies for educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies, and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning.
    Attends training, researches, and collaborates to maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge on accessibility standards, provides training to faculty on accessibility as it relates to instructional content, and ensures instructional content in the distance learning environment meet accessibility standards.
    Participates in activities to stay informed about trends in instructional design/technology in specific disciplines and across academia; keeps knowledge of educational theory and instructional technologies current and relevant.
    Provides faculty support and creates training opportunities for major College technologies that tangentially benefit teaching and learning (Teams, Office Suite, etc.).
    Conducts needs analyses, develops faculty workshops (in-person, online and on- demand), and maintains/updates training materials for instructional best practices for all delivery modes.
    Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia to support teaching, learning, and college information needs.
    Maintains appropriate records to analyze and document course developments, online student success, and other department and college distance learning initiatives.
    Collaborates with stakeholders – both inside and outside of the institution – to ensure resources are available and appropriately configured/integrated to support high-quality student educational experiences.
    Assists Executive Director in managing workflows for LECs within the department
    Facilitates recruitment, hiring processes, training, and mentoring for new LEC hires within the department.
    Reviews/Evaluates LEC new hires performance at 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days, makes recommendations for performance improvement and training.
    Keeps Executive Director informed of potential challenges in relation to LEC workloads, performance, and professional development needs.
    Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

Master’s Degree or equivalent in instructional design, instructional technology, instructional methodology, or a field related to education and over five (5) years relevant full-time experience.

Combination of degree and experience will reflect knowledge of instructional design processes, learning theory, and instructional technology.

Demonstrated experience working in complex organizations and meeting the needs of multiple clients with diverse needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a higher education environment is desired.
